About Me

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

-James Baldwin

Joelene Knight brings over 34 years of experience in the behavioral health, addiction, and recovery fields. After decades working directly with individuals and families, she saw the same pattern repeat itself: families were often left to manage overwhelming situations alone, without real-time, practical tools, even when their loved one wasn’t ready, or able, to get help. Joelene knows that families don’t stop being parents, partners, siblings, or caregivers during crisis; their roles simply become more demanding and often more confusing. Her work centers on supporting every member of the family system, regardless of where their loved one stands in the recovery process.

Joelene began her career in 1991 as a Community Outreach Specialist, counseling high-risk youth, adolescents, and families. She went on to serve in leadership positions at Promises and ARC in Los Angeles before co-founding Grace Recovery in 2018. Throughout her work, she has remained committed to increasing access to support and strengthening community engagement. In addition to her decades of work with families, Joelene served six years on the Mayor’s Office Crisis Response Team and has led groups, provided HIV education and prevention in substance-using communities, and consulted with programs nationwide to improve the way families are supported.

Joelene’s approach is direct yet deeply relational. She tells the truth with compassion, brings clarity to chaotic situations, and creates a grounded space where families can regain stability and direction. Her combination of honesty, warmth, and practical guidance helps families make meaningful, lasting change together. Known for her integrity, her human approach, and her ability to create long-term systemic change, Joelene is widely respected by colleagues and families alike. Her blend of experience, insight, and collaborative family work makes her a trusted partner for thoseseeking clarity, support, and transformation.
